Our services

Myotherapy assists with the treatment of injuries or conditions that result from strains, sprains, postural and recreational stresses, emotional stress, muscular imbalances, trauma, overuse or chronic neuromuscular or musculoskeletal illness.

Hands-on treatment

Deep tissue massage

Deep tissue massage is a massage technique used to treat musculoskeletal issues, such as strains and sports injuries. It involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues. This helps to break up scar tissue that forms following an injury and reduce tension in muscle and tissue.

Soft Tissue Manipulation

Soft Tissue Manipulation is a treatment method that aims to improve the condition of soft tissue. Rather than applying pressure, soft tissue manipulation gently massages and exercises the joints and soft tissue to minimise muscle tension. This treatment technique can improve fluid circulation, oxygen supply, reduce swelling and relieve tension and pain in soft tissue.

Myofascial release

Connective tissues called fascia surround the muscles, bones, nerves and organs of the body. Fascia can become tense due to trauma, posture or inflammation, placing pressure on the nerves and muscles which can cause chronic pain.

Myofascial release is a manipulative treatment that releases tension in the fascia to minimise pain. When performing myofascial release practitioners utilise long stretching strokes on the tense area to balance out tissue and muscle mechanics, improving range of motion and relieving pain.

Trigger Point Therapy

A trigger point is tight muscle tissue within a band of skeletal muscle. These discrete spots of tension can affect your range of movement and cause pain. This pain is typically referred to other areas of the body, often accompanying chronic musculoskeletal disorders.

Trigger Point Therapy is a muscular treatment that involves applying controlled pressure to specified points of tender muscle tissue in an attempt to reduce muscle tension, alleviating local and referred pain throughout the body.

Dry Needling

Often mistaken as traditional acupuncture, Dry Needling is a completely different modern-day treatment. Dry Needling involves having several stainless steel filiform needles inserted into the skin. These needles are extremely fine and short and don’t inject fluid into the body, making them ‘dry’. During Dry Needling, your therapist will place the needles in the “trigger points” of your muscle or tissue that are knotted to release pain and tension.

Cupping

Cupping is an alternative medicine in which a therapist uses specialised glass cups on your skin to release tension. These cups create a suction that pulls on an area of skin, decompressing the muscles and connective tissue. This directs blood flow to the area, enhances circulation and helps to increase the body's own healing processes.

Corrective Exercises

At the end of your consultation, we will discuss a range of personalised, corrective and strengthening exercises for you to take home to help you get back on track.
